2025-16 CONTRACT FOR SHOWSE PARK PLAYGROUND

2025-16 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF VERMILION, OHIO TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH GAMETIME/PLAYCORE OF FORT PAYNE, ALABAMA FOR THE SWING PACKAGE AT SHOWSE PARK THROUGH THE OHIO BUYS STATE PURCHASING PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO MAKE PAYMENT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THIRTEEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($13,500.00) AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

                                                                                   

WHEREAS, on March 18, 2025, the Vermilion Parks and Recreation Board favorably made a motion recommending to the Vermilion City Council to have legislation prepared to enter into an agreement with GameTime/Playcore of Fort Payne, Alabama for the swing package at Showse Park through the Ohio Buys State Purchasing Program in an amount not to exceed Thirteen Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($13,500.00), and to ask Council to consider emergency passage in order to have the playground installed for the 2025 summer season.

 

WHEREAS, on March 18, 2025, the Vermilion Parks and Recreation Board favorably made a motion to approve the expenditure not to exceed Thirteen Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($13,500.00).

 

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Vermilion, Counties of Erie and Lorain, State of Ohio:

 

            SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and hereby is authorized and directed to make and enter into an agreement with GameTime/Playcore of Fort Payne, Alabama for the swing package at Showse Park through Ohio Buys State Purchasing Program; authorizing the Finance Director to make payment in an amount not to exceed Thirteen Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($13,500.00).

 

            SECTION 2: This Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this Ordinance were taken in an open meeting of this Council and that all deliberations of this Council and of any committees that resulted in those formal actions were in meetings open to the public and in compliance with all legal requirements, including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.

 

            SECTION 3:  That this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency to proceed with the project for the public peace, health, and safety of the city; the emergency being the necessity of having the playground equipment installed for the 2025 summer season. Wherefore, this Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval of the mayor, providing it meets the statutory requirements for passage; otherwise, it shall take effect and be enforced from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
