2023-24 AMEND THE FULL TIME SALARY OF CHRIS HARTUNG

2023-24 AN ORDINANCE TO RE-ESTABLISH AND AMEND THE FULL TIME SALARY OF CHRISTOPHER HARTUNG AS THE CITY OF VERMILION’S CHIEF OF POLICE, EFFECTIVE UPON PASSAGE OF THIS ORDINANCE.

WHEREAS, the Vermilion City Council desires to re-establish and amend the full-time salary of Christopher Hartung as Chief of Police effective upon passage of this ordinance.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Vermilion, Counties of Erie and Lorain, State of Ohio:

SECTION 1: That the office of Vermilion Chief of Police be and the same is hereby declared to be a full time duly authorized position within the administrative staff of the City of Vermilion and that all other ordinances relating hereto be and the same are hereby amended to reflect the terms of this enactment.

SECTION 2: That the Vermilion City Council hereby re-establishes the annual salary of Christopher Hartung as the City of Vermilion’s Chief of Police commensurate to the following salary schedule increases:

2023 - $95,000 (effective upon passage of this ordinance)

SECTION 3: That the Director of Finance is hereby authorized and directed to make payment of these amendatory wages from and after the passage of this ordinance, and that continuing increases as prescribed by the increases granted to the Local 860 Laborers International Union of North American are authorized herein.  That all other terms and conditions of the above-mentioned ordinance shall remain unaffected hereby and hereby ratified and confirmed except as pertains to said amended salary applicable to the person now holding said office.                    

SECTION 4: This Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this Ordinance were taken in an open meeting of this Council and that all deliberations of this Council and of any committees that resulted in those formal actions were in meetings open to the public and in compliance with all requirements including Section 121.11 of the Ohio Revised Code.

SECTION 5:  That this ordinance shall take effect and go into full force immediately after its passage and its approval by the Mayor; otherwise, it shall take effect at the earliest period allowed by law.
