2023-82 REESTABLISHING THE SALARY AND COMPENSATION OF CITY PROSECUTOR

2023-82 AN ORDINANCE REESTABLISHING THE SALARY AND COMPENSATION OF THE CITY OF VERMILION PROSECUTOR BY AMENDING ORDINANCE 2010-5 ADOPTED JANUARY 4, 2010. AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

WHEREAS, it is desirable to encourage competent, experienced part-time employees to remain in the service of the city.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Council of the City of Vermilion, Counties of Erie and Lorain, State of Ohio:

SECTION 1: That effective upon passage, Ordinance No. 2023-82 is hereby amended to provide as follows:

The salary of the City of Vermilion part-time prosecutor should be adjusted from $35,000 to $45,000 annually.  In the event such position is shared among two or more prosecutors, the annual salary paid to each shall be apportioned in accordance with such employees’ work schedules. Payment shall be made in accordance with the general payroll procedures of the Finance Department of the City of Vermilion.

SECTION 2:  The salary compensation as provided for in Section 1 above shall apply to the person(s) presently holding the office of the City Prosecutor and to any subsequent appointee to that position.

SECTION 3:   This Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this Ordinance were taken in an open meeting of this Council and that all deliberations of this Council and of any committees that resulted in those formal actions were in meetings open to the public and in compliance with all requirements including Section 121.11 of the Ohio Revised Code.

SECTION 4:   That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency for the public peace, health, and safety of the City; wherefore, this Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval of the mayor, providing it meets the statutory requirements for passage; otherwise, it shall take effect and be enforced from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
