NOTICE TO BIDDERS

Sealed bids will be received by the City of Vermilion (the City) until May 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM at City Hall, 5511 Liberty Avenue, Vermilion, Ohio 44089, and will be opened and read publicly immediately thereafter, for the following project:

2023 Street Program - Contract A

Frederick Drive/Gardiner Drive/Dorothy Drive Improvements
City of Vermilion

Erie and Lorain County, Ohio

In accordance with the Plans and Specifications prepared by Bramhall Engineering and Surveying Company (the Engineer), the project consists of full width pavement reconstruction of approximately 1,655 linear feet of Frederick Drive, Gardiner Drive and Dorothy Drive.

Copies of the Contract Documents may be obtained from the office of Bramhall Engineering & Surveying Co. beginning May 4, 2023 at 9:00 AM and during regular business hours, thereafter. Cost of Contract Documents are fifty dollars ($50.00). Checks are to be made payable to the City of Vermilion and are non-refundable.

There will be no Pre-Bid Meeting. Questions by prospective bidders concerning this project should be directed in writing to the Vermilion City Engineer, Chris Howard, P.E. by fax to (440) 934-7879 or by email to choward@bramhall-engineering.com, no later than May 19, 2023.  

The City of Vermilion is a governmental agency, exempt from any Local, State and Federal sales taxes.

Each bidder is required to furnish with its proposal a Bid Guaranty and Contract Bond in accordance with Section 153.54 of the Ohio Revised Code. Bid Security furnished in Bond form, shall be issued by a Surety Company or Corporation licensed in the State of Ohio to provide said Surety. Each proposal must contain the full name of the party or parties submitting the proposal and all persons interested therein. Each bidder must submit evidence of its experiences on projects of similar size and complexity. All contractors and subcontractors involved with the project will to the extent practicable use Ohio products, materials, service and labor in the implementation of their project. Additionally, contractor compliance with the equal employment opportunity requirements of Ohio Administrative code Chapter 123 is required. The owner intends and requires that the project be completed by no later than September 29, 2023.      Bidders must comply with the prevailing wage rates on Public Improvements in Erie and Lorain County, Ohio as determined by the Ohio Department of Commerce, Bureau of Wage and Hour Administration, (614) 644-2239. If the City determines to award the contract, the City will award it based on the lowest and best bid as determined in the discretion of the City. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informalities or irregularities therein.  Bidders must purchase bid documents from the owner to be considered an eligible bidder.
